Types of thank you messages

When candidates apply to your job postings, they'll receive an automatic thank-you message as soon as they submit their application. This is the first step in creating a good candidate experience.

đź’ˇ Tip: Learn how you can personalize the Application: Thanks for applying template to showcase your company culture.

There are two emails that can be sent when a candidate is created through email or your career website:

  • Application: Thanks for applying

  • Application: Thanks for your referral

Who receives a Thanks for applying email?

  1. Candidates who apply through your Careers website: All candidates who submit their applications through the Careers website receive a “Thanks for applying” email.

  2. Candidates who apply by email: Candidates receive a “Thanks for applying” only in the following cases:

    1. If the candidate’s source was not recognized.

    2. If the candidate sends an application from their email address to the job's email address.

    3. If the candidate submits an application through Indeed.

  3. The following candidate sources:

    1. Job boards

    2. Referrals (paid and not paid)

    3. Campus

    4. Internal promotion

    5. Web

Who receives a Thanks for your referral email?

The “Application: Thanks for your referral” email is sent in the following cases only when the source type is “Referrer,” and you configure the email to be sent:

  • Referrals (paid and not paid)

  • Campus

When are Thank-you emails not sent?

  1. Candidate method: If the source method is LinkedIn, that is, the email is sent from LinkedIn, the “Thanks for applying” email won’t be sent.

  2. No-reply emails: If the email is sent from a no-reply email address, the “Thank you for applying” email won’t be sent.

    • No-reply emails are identified when the email address includes any of the following: no-reply@, noreply@, do-not-reply@, donotreply@.

  3. Undocumented position settings: If the position name starts with “:-X”, for example, “:-X java developer”, the “Thank you for applying” email won’t be sent.

    • This setup only affects the sending of thank-you and failure emails via the mail grabber.
