Plan: Growth, Enterprise
Role: Admin ✧ Owner ✧ Hiring team
Scorecards define the traits and skills interviewers use to evaluate candidates during interviews. Each scorecard includes a list of traits and rating options, which are displayed in the candidate’s profile once an evaluation is submitted.
You can set up scorecards in three places:
- Step templates (Admin and Owner at the company level) – Assign scorecards to interview step templates so they’re automatically included whenever that step is used in a position.
- Scorecard tab in the position (Recruiter, Recruiting Coordinator, Hiring Manager at the position level) – Apply a scorecard to all interview steps or manage scorecards per step. You can also add position-specific traits that appear alongside any assigned scorecards.
- Workflow tab in the position (Recruiter, Recruiting Coordinator, Hiring Manager at the position level) – Assign scorecards directly to individual interview steps within the position’s workflow.
📝Note: When duplicating a position or creating a new one from a position template, the Scorecard tab and any scorecards assigned to interview steps will also be duplicated for the new position.
Default scorecard
Every new position includes a default scorecard called Basic Scorecard, created by Recruit.
- You can edit its name and traits, but it can’t be deleted.
- This scorecard is always public—any teammate can view and use it.
Create scorecards
-
From the left-side menu, select Library > Scorecards.
- Click ➕ Add at the top right.
- Enter a name for the scorecard.
- Add the trait you want to evaluate candidates on, including a name and an optional description to give more context. You can add as many as necessary by clicking ➕ Add trait.
- To remove a trait, hover over the trait you want to delete and click the trash can icon.
- Click Save.
- Set the scorecard visibility by clicking on the dropdown and selecting one of the options:
- Restricted – Only Owners and Recruiters can find and assign the scorecard to a position or interview.
- Shared – All teammates can find and assign this scorecard to a position or interview.
- Save again.
Edit, duplicate, or delete scorecards
From the Scorecards page, hover your mouse over the scorecard you want to update and click the three-dot menu:
- Edit – Make changes to the scorecard name or traits.
- Duplicate – Create a copy to use as the basis for a new scorecard.
- Delete – Permanently remove the scorecard. This will also remove it from all positions and steps where it’s currently assigned.
-
Click Save and update to confirm changes.
Set up scorecards
📝Note: Recruit provides a basic scorecard by default. This scorecard includes a standard set of traits and is automatically assigned to all new positions.
At the company level
To ensure specific interview types always include relevant evaluation criteria, an account Owner or Admin can assign scorecards to Step templates.
- From the left-side menu, go to Settings > Hiring setup > Step templates.
- Scroll down to the relevant step (e.g. Interview/Technical), click on the three-dot menu, and select Edit.
-
Use the Scorecard dropdown to assign the relevant scorecard.
At the position level
To assign scorecards to interview steps in a specific position, you have two options:
-
From the Scorecard tab – Open the position and go to the Scorecard tab.
- To apply the same scorecard to all interview steps, click Add scorecard under All interview steps and select a scorecard from the list.
- To assign scorecards to individual steps, scroll down to each interview step, click Add scorecard, and choose the one you want. You can use a different scorecard for each step if needed.
- You can also add traits directly in this tab. They will appear in all interview steps, alongside any assigned scorecards, and won’t affect the scorecard itself. The AI Assistant can help by suggesting relevant traits based on the position’s requirements.
Use the scorecard on the Evaluation page
A scorecard is an excellent way to add structure to the candidates' evaluations and make sure the hiring team considers all the important aspects:
View candidates' overall scores
After a candidate goes through a variety of interviews and the scorecard is filled by different interviewers, an average score is displayed under the ⭐Evaluation tab in the candidate's profile:
The average score will also appear next to the candidate's name. Hovering over the star icon will display the average rating of the candidate:
Search for candidates by score
Use Talent search to display the list of candidates with the best scores. Additional filters, such as Position or Last completed step, can be used to narrow down the results according to your needs:
Additional permission information
- Depending on your organization's configurations for workflows or specific positions, any teammate from the hiring team can complete a scorecard.
- Permission to view candidate evaluations is always available for the hiring team's Recruiter, Recruiting Coordinator, and Hiring Manager by default. Interviewers, by default, can view all evaluations after submitting their own.
