Role: AdminOwner Hiring team

Internal requirements let you add criteria that matter to your hiring team but should not be shared publicly with candidates. They are factored into AI Resume Review rankings and included in team-facing tools like the position description and interview brief, but they are never posted on job boards or visible to applicants.

This helps align AI Resume Review results with real decision-making, so the candidates ranked at the top are not only a strong fit for the published job description, but also for your team’s internal expectations.

Internal requirements can also be used to define mandatory qualifications for AI Resume Review. When using the Knockout requirements feature, requirements that include the words "must" or "mandatory" will receive special treatment during candidate evaluation. Learn more about Strict and Flexible match for Knockout requirements.

Adding internal requirements ensures:

  • Higher alignment – Your team and AI Resume Review work from the same expectations.
  • More accurate rankings – AI Resume Review reflects both published and internal priorities.
  • Confidentiality – Sensitive criteria never appear to candidates.

⚠️ Important: Internal requirements complement the position requirements, but they don't replace them. AI Resume Review will not run if the requirements field is empty.

Internal requirement best practices and examples

  1. Use internal requirements when:
    • The criteria would not make sense or be appropriate in a public job post (e.g., competitor experience).
    • When you want AI Resume Review to reflect real decision-making factors without disclosing them to applicants.
  2. Combine them with clear job requirements, following the same general guidelines that apply to AI Resume Review best practices.
  3. To mark an internal requirement as mandatory, include the words "must" or "mandatory" in the requirement.
  4. Think of internal requirements as instructions for AI Resume Review, not marketing text for candidates. Here are some examples of internal requirements with their dos/don’ts:

Add internal requirements

The Internal requirements field is included by default in every position under the Description tab.

  • It appears right below the Requirements field, but you can reorder fields from Settings > Data > Position fields.
  • This field is always available and cannot be removed.
  • Enter your internal requirements following the best practices above. Changes are saved automatically when you click outside the field.

📝 Note: Any time you update internal requirements, AI Resume Review will automatically reprocess them for future candidates, just like public requirements. If you want already screened candidates reprocessed, you’ll need to rerun the process manually.

You’ll also see internal requirements on the Interview Brief page for easy reviewer reference.
