How the reference request process works
When you request references through Recruit, both the candidate and their chosen references go through a simple, step-by-step flow. Here’s what happens:
đź’ˇTip: Learn how to request references.
What the candidate sees
1. They get an email from Spark Hire
The candidate receives an email letting them know you’re requesting references. It includes your company name, the role they applied for, who made the request, and the due date.
2. They confirm their email and agree to the terms
The candidate confirms their email address before continuing.
3. They enter their references
After confirming their email, the candidate is requested to provide each reference’s full name and email address. They may also include additional details, such as the reference’s:
- Phone number
- Job title at the time they worked together
- Relationship to the candidate
- Company name
4. They confirm and submit
The candidate reviews all entered references. Once everything looks good, they agree to let Spark Hire Meet contact their references and click Submit references.
- After the candidate submits a reference, their contact information appears on the candidate’s profile in Meet.
- The candidate gets a confirmation that their references will be contacted.
What the reference sees
1. They get an email request
When the candidate submits a reference, they get an email from Spark Hire Meet explaining that the candidate listed them as a reference.
2. They fill out a short survey
The reference is taken to an online survey where they answer questions about the candidate. Questions vary depending on the survey selected by the employer in Spark Hire Recruit.
Before sending their answers, the reference confirms everything is accurate and then clicks Submit.
See survey answers in Spark Hire Recruit
As soon as a reference completes the survey, you’ll see their answers in the candidate’s profile under the Evaluation tab.
