Role: Teammates with permission to edit workflows
Assessment steps help you send and track candidate assessments directly in Recruit. Add an assessment app to a position workflow, choose the test and expiration settings, and decide whether the assessment starts automatically or manually. Once the candidate completes the assessment, Recruit shows the results in the candidate profile.
Add an assessment step to your workflow
Navigate to the relevant position and select the workflow tab.
Add a new step or select an existing one.
-
Change the step type to the relevant assessment app.
- Under Assigned to, select the default teammate for the step.
Select a test from the drop-down menu. Tests displayed here are created in the assessment app.
Select the expiration date of the assessment. By default, the assessment is set to expire after 3 days, but you can choose to keep it open indefinitely by selecting Do not expire.
-
If you want the assessment to automatically start when a candidate reaches the step, turn on the Auto-start toggle.
📝 Note: If you don’t see the Auto-start option, the feature is not available for that assessment app.
Assess your candidates
Auto-start assessment
If you’ve enabled auto-start, Recruit will automatically send the assessment to the candidate when they reach the assessment step.
Make sure the candidate has the commonly required details for auto-starting the step, for example, a valid phone number, an email address, and a resume (this may vary depending on the assessment).
If any required information is missing, the assessment won’t be sent. Instead, you’ll see an alert with the relevant error. Once you’ve provided the missing information, you’ll need to restart the assessment manually.
Start assessment manually
Review the selected assessment and the expiration date, if there is one.
Click Start to email interview details to the candidate. The step will be automatically marked as complete.
Evaluation
When the candidate completes the assessment, results are displayed in the Evaluation tab of the candidate profile, including a link to the original material in the assessment app.
You can skip an assessment app step in the candidate workflow by clicking Mark as completed. In this case, evaluations are not updated, even if a candidate completes the integrated app step.
⏰ When the step is completed in the assessment app, it will take a few minutes to be updated in Recruit.
