Role: All teammates with a LinkedIn Recruiter account

Paid posts on LinkedIn receive enhanced visibility among relevant candidates and are prominently featured in LinkedIn's job search results, reaching a larger audience.

This article will guide you on the options available to you for promoting your positions on LinkedIn. For more info on LinkedIn integrations, see our LinkedIn Integrations overview article.

Limitations

LinkedIn doesn’t allow staffing or recruiting agencies to post jobs for free. These companies must use promoted job posts or Job Slots. If LinkedIn flags your company as a staffing or recruiting agency, your free job posts from Recruit will no longer appear on LinkedIn. Learn more in LinkedIn's documentation.

Job Wrapping

📝 Job Wrapping, also referred to as Automated Job Posting, is available from LinkedIn to customers who have job slots, at no extra cost. It is required for staffing customers and recommended for non-staffing customers to use Apply Connect. For more details, see LinkedIn’s Automated Job Posting guide.

Using LinkedIn Job Wrapping, you can have positions that are synced from Spark Hire Recruit automatically promoted to your paid job slots on LinkedIn. You do that by defining your selection criteria so that the positions with the highest priority will be promoted.

LinkedIn Job Wrapping is available at no extra cost to all LinkedIn customers who use job slots (i.e., have a Recruiter contract). Recruit recommends this option for promoting your positions on LinkedIn because it eliminates the manual work of posting and managing paid jobs separately.

By setting up the relevant rules, LinkedIn will:

  • Prioritize which positions that are synced from Recruit are posted into your job slots.

  • Allow candidates to apply on your careers site or on LinkedIn with Easy Apply (requires the Apply Connect integration).

  • Automatically add applicants to the relevant position in Recruit.

🚀 To get started with Job Wrapping, connect with your LinkedIn representative or visit this guide.

Manual posting with LinkedIn's self-serve Online Jobs

📝 Available to all customers, but not recommended for customers with job slots. These customers should use Job Wrapping.

LinkedIn Job Wrapping is the best option for using paid postings on LinkedIn. However, if you do not have access to LinkedIn job slots, you can opt for LinkedIn's self-serve Online Jobs experience. This method allows you to manually post and promote individual job openings.

When posting manually, it is important to select the Direct applicants to an external site to apply option on LinkedIn, to make sure that new candidate applications are added to Recruit.

Direct applicants to your Career Website

When posting, LinkedIn provides two options for your job postings, and while the first one is marked as recommended (as shown in the screenshot), it is important to select the second option, Direct applicants to an external site to apply, to ensure that candidates are automatically added to Recruit when they apply.

When selecting this option:

  • Enter the URL of the position on your careers website.

  • LinkedIn will be automatically specified as the source of the candidates that apply if you are using Recruit’s careers API or the hosted careers website by Recruit.

    • If you want to associate the candidates who apply with a different source instead of LinkedIn –a specific campaign for example–, make sure the URL you use is a trackable link. Learn more about generating trackable links.

  • It is recommended to enable Apply with LinkedIn to allow candidates to apply more easily on your careers website by using their LinkedIn profile. Add an Apply with LinkedIn button on your application form, allowing candidates to submit their LinkedIn profiles instead of completing the entire application form. See instructions here.

⚠️ Important: If you select to get candidate applications by email, they might not be automatically added to Recruit due to LinkedIn restrictions. To avoid losing potential candidates, choose to direct applicants to your site despite LinkedIn's suggestion.

FAQ

What should I do if I'm not receiving candidates in Recruit after selecting the option to receive applications by email?

If you've chosen “Let candidates apply with their LinkedIn profile and attach their resume” and candidates are not appearing in Recruit, they will be added to your LinkedIn project. In such cases, you will have to export them manually from LinkedIn using the RSC integration or the Chrome extension.
